What were you doing for fitness training before joining BVC
Mostly just recreating, nothing structure – mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding etc.
What made you decide to try CrossFit?
I had a really intense busy period at work where I wasn’t getting out much, so when I did get out on my bike or on snow I didn’t feel fit enough to enjoy it as much as I wanted.
What improvements have you made that you are most proud of?
I’ve noticed I’m stronger and able to push harder in the workouts, but the best so far was being on my snowboard and feeling the difference outside of the gym.
How has CrossFit changed your life/lifestyle?
It’s become part of my routine. I usually like to go to the early classes before going in to work, which sets me up for the rest of the day.
What are your favorite words to live by/quote?
Push your comfort zone – try something that scares you.
Tell us about any other activities you love to do outside of the gym.
I snowboard in winter and bike all year round, looking forward to test out my Crossfit legs on the mountain bike trails this year.
What is one of your goals for this upcoming year?
Right now I’m focussing on trying to maintain fitness and progress what I can while we can’t go to conventional classes in the gym and the remote programming and coaching has been awesome. Once life gets back to normal I’d like to keep working on pull ups.
What motivates you during a WOD?
The class atmosphere and knowing the benefits I feel later.
What did you like about the nutrition program?
It was very simple, accessible and there was a tonne of support.
If you could give yourself one piece of advice when you started our nutrition program, what would it be?
Trust the process and be patient.
What made the nutrition plan successful for you?
The fact that is was tailored to me, the simplicity, ongoing support from the coaches at Bow Valley Crossfit and support at home.
