I recently hired our Nutrition Coach to work with me one-on-one. I’m sure many people have asked themselves “why does Liz need a Nutrition Coach, doesn’t she own a gym, shouldn’t she know all this information already?” The answer to that is, yes, I do have a lot of knowledge about Nutrition. I know what to eat and when to eat it and know how much of everything I need to consume, but there is a whole science to it. A whole science that I, admittedly, have not focused my studies on yet. I am a huge advocate for hiring professionals to help you with the things at which you are not proficient at. It saves time and in the long run money. At this point in my career, saving time is my most valuable asset, it helps me to be a better business owner and create a better experience for my members.
But time is not why I hired Jamie, I got a little side tracked there. I hired Jamie because I am human, I have weaknesses. I crave sugar allllllll of the time, and, don’t ever leave a French baguette in my company if you’re planning on having any of it. Just because I love going to the gym every day and playing sports, it does not automatically translate to wanting to eat consistently healthy.
I hired Jamie to have someone to be accountable to, someone who is going to check-in on me periodically and track my progress. Do I have lots of weight to lose, no, but I do have some. Weight-loss is not the only reason to hire a nutrition coach. We put our body through huge amounts of stress in the gym and ensuring that we are fueling it correctly to balance this is crucial. The science of eating and performing is a tricky one and that is what excited me about having a specific plan.
Getting started with the plan wasn’t easy for me though, it was intimidating to the point where I nearly cancelled my first appointment. You may laugh, but that is what happened for real! It’s hard to expose your weaknesses and tell someone else your struggles, but, after showing up and chatting with Jamie I could sense her passion to help me on my journey and felt no judgement whatsoever.
I’ve been on the plan 3 weeks now and I feel great, have been sleeping better and have still managed to eat a Thanksgiving dinner and even chicken wings!!! The 80/20 rule has been working well for me, although admittedly, I had to go cold turkey on the bread because that is my biggest weakness.
If you’re struggling with any part of your nutrition too, don’t worry, you’re not alone. That’s why Jamie is here to help. If you have questions don’t be afraid to reach out, or, book a free nutrition consultation below.
